The Disco Ball did not happen this year. Foul weather early in the week hindered progress on the remaining assembly tasks, but really, I should have started this project a month sooner. This is the largest art project I've ever attempted, and until now, I've never had a need for a formal time line.
To all my generous donors, helpers and supporters, you have my sincere thanks and apologies.
Stay tuned next year...

Prototype Inflated
5' prototype inflated. My living room is now *much* smaller.
The ridges will support the mylar mirrors. I'm only covering 40% of this prototype w/ mirrors.
Last step is installing the mirrors...

This is the nozzle of the latex weather balloon w/ a PVC check valve installed.
And here is the access port that lets me reach inside while the balloon is partially inflated. On the full size balloon I may be crawling through it. The closure is lace-over-zipper w/ a flap on the back side to protect the balloon from the zipper teeth.
